Over the course of the past few days I've been working on my graphics gif. I have really little experience in photoshop and so I was really nervous with this gif (also because my artistic skills + patience = 0). The pen tool is something that I used for the first time and was blown away.
The pen tool
So I didn't really want to draw a camera on photoshop I preferred drawing it out on hand and tracing it in photoshop. I had no idea how to do it, I always assumed that people who used photoshop were always drawing it on there.
It was only 3 steps:
1. Select the pencil tool and specify the diameter of your pencil.
2. Select the pen tool and click on paths in the layer panel
3. Pinpoint your path
4. Once you think it's good you can right click and tap stroke brush and it would fill it in with pencil marks
This was mind blowing to me because I would always avoid the pen tool thinking I could only draw fine lines with it. It was really easy to trace my drawing and I was very happy with the final results.
Things to consider in the future:I found the pen tool really interesting because it was able to follow my lead. I was able to curve the path around objects and other shapes. Something that I want to dwell more into is how they would have coded that. Specifically the curves. Straight lines are pretty easy, but I'm wondering about the math behind the curves, especially if they differ continuously.
